For example, if map unit ID001 had 2 layers in SEQNUM 1, with weighted average values of 2.2 and 9.8, the new summed value would be 12. This sum of the weighted average was then multiplied by the percent of the map unit that soil sequence occupied (COMPPT) and the total was divided by 100. For example, if SEQNUM 1 had a COMPPT value of 11%, it would be given a value of 1.32 (12 x 0.11 = 1.32). These were then summed for all SEQNUMs within each MUID, to get an average value of AWC for the soils occupying a given map unit. These new values were then joined to MUID field in the STATSGO GIS layer.
