  Description:
    Abstract: A series of petitions was received by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) between May, 1999 and December, 2003 requesting that sage grouse, both Greater Sage grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) and Gunnison Sage grouse (C. minimus) be listed on the Federal Endangered Species List.  The petitions cover a variety of geographic areas across the historic range of sage grouse.  Each petition requested includes the names of those who petitioned, the determination by the USFWS, the legal actions that took place (if any), and the contact person within the USFWS.
    Purpose: This table summarizes the petitions submitted between May, 1999 and December, 2003 to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service requesting that Sage grouse be listed on the Endangered Species List.   This dataset was created for the Conservation Assessment for Greater Sage-grouse and Sagebrush Habitats.
