Cheyenne, Wyoming. Online_Linkage: http:\\sagemap.wr.usgs.gov Description: Abstract: Greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) Local Working Groups (LWGs) represent locally-based partnerships of state and federal agencies, landowners, industry, non-governmental agencies, and the public who have come together for the purpose of sage-grouse and sagebrush habitat conservation. Sage-grouse conservation efforts began in the mid 1990's in response to the concern over perceived declines in population numbers. Approximately 40 LWGs are active in the western United States, with more than 70 groups scheduled by 2008. This table provides a list of all LWGs presently established and their respective timeframes for completing Sage-grouse Conservation Plans. Purpose: This table lists for each state within the Greater sage-grouse Conservation Assessment area, the status of Local Working Group establishment and their respective timeframes for completing Sage-grouse Conservation Plans.
