Identification_Information: Citation: Citation_Information: Originator: Bureau of Land Management Publication_Date: 19940901 Title: COVERAGE BLMPCA - Administrative boundaries of the BLM in CA Edition: Version 2 Geospatial_Data_Presentation_Form: map Series_Information: Series_Name: Issue_Identification: Publication_Information: Publication_Place: Sacramento, CA Publisher: BLM Online_Linkage: none Description: Abstract: BLMPCA coverage is a product of the work of volunteer Jim Catlin, a graduate student from UC Berkeley. Catlin used the best sources available at the time (1994) to compile BLM CA administrative boundaries on to 100k base. Administrative boundaries for BLM in CA extend into a portion of NW Nevada. Difficulty was encountered in the Carson City area, where a small portion of CA is administratively under the contro of BLM NV. This boundary has since been addressed by the finding of additional documentary information. Purpose: This data set is intended for generally large scale work (greater than 1:24,000) in illustrating BLM Administrative boundaries, and inventoring resources and lands by administrative unit. Supplemental_Information: The data set has been constructed, and updated, using the best available information. When Catlin put it together, the BLM was still using ADS/MOSS software on a Prime Computer. Shortly after Catlin completed the data set, it was moved to Arc/Info, and IBM AIX Unix platform. When the data set was moved to Arc/Info, Catlin's paper feature level metadata on the source of arcs was moved into the data set, as a part of the aat. Use_Constraints: The data contains a mixture of sources, but overall is rated as from 1:100,000 source. Users should exercise caution in its use. The data holds up well to scales approaching 1:24,000 - particularly depending on which area is being used. Attention should be paid to the sources of the arcs.
